The CSR Competence Centre for the Rhine District of Neuss intends to raise awareness for the opportunities presented by responsible corporate management among medium-sized businesses, to provide practically-oriented knowledge and above all else to address the key topics of people, markets, the environment and society. In this way we are creating an offering which will enable small and medium-sized businesses to realise new and innovative approaches. The Centre is affiliated to the Rhine-Neuss Economic Development Corporation. The core task of the Rhine-Neuss Economic Development Corporation is to support small and medium-sized businesses and to function as their innovative and forward-looking partner.

The goal of the Centre is to highlight the importance of responsible corporate management and to increase the uptake of CSR among small and medium-sized businesses, and in doing so, to generate a region of sustainability and added value. In this respect, the Centre attributes particular importance to the sharing of knowledge between companies, through which it means to embolden companies to introduce CSR concepts. In addition to the above, the Economic Development Corporation also intends to implement CSR in the form of a stimulus for the innovation-oriented development of medium-sized businesses in both the Rhine-Neuss District and the wider project region.

Practically-oriented knowledge will be made available to companies at workshops and information events. Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf will be acting as partner to the project and supporting its content as an academic partner.

The Centre will also draw on the support of wide-ranging regional partnerships. These will include the following regional partners: Mittlerer Niederrhein Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK), Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the economic development agencies for the cities of Düsseldorf and Krefeld, and the Districts of Mettmann, Viersen and Rhine-Erft.
